Volunteering at Fordsdale in 2024

2024 has been a wonderful year for volunteers at Fordsdale. Sue has had several girls come and stay with her as Fordsdale Farmstay volunteers.

These volunteers have come through two different organisations. One is WWOOF (Willing Workers on Organic Farms) and the other is a sister company called American Institute for Foreign Study.

We Love Our Volunteers!

Having the girls work with Sue to train the horses and do other farm activities such as weed control, repairing fences and clearing the Trail Riding tracks, has all been very helpful and are useful things for the Farmstay business.

Volunteers have been a very welcome addition when they stay at Fordsdale Farmstay.

Part of the arrangement with the Volunteering through WWOOF is that the Volunteers are given accommodation with their hosts. International travellers and students can stay with families who are host members of the WWOOF organisation and can experience life with an Australian family as part of their Australian experience.

But you don’t have to be an international traveller to become a member of WWOOF. Many young  Australians in a gap study year or even Grey nomads can be WWOOF members and have the opportunity to travel around Australia and stay with families all over the country.
