Ever wanted to try Endurance Riding?
Fordsdale Horseback Adventures is offering an opportunity to compete at an event. A Taste of Endurance is a 4-day package where you have the opportunity to ride a trained endurance horse in a real competition ride.
A Real Competition Ride
The experience starts at lunchtime Thursday where you will meet your horse for the weekend. After choosing the tack which best suits you and also your horse, you spend some time riding in the arena to get your flat work down pat for the competition ride ahead.
We will teach you!
On Friday you will go on a casual trail ride for a couple of hours. We will teach you the vetting and strapping procedures you will need to know over the weekend. That evening kick-back with the rest of the crew, have a few cold beers and also enjoy an Aussie BBQ.
Practise ride, 20km
On Saturday morning we will wake up early. After a hearty breakfast you will be going out on a 20km training ride. You will be riding the same distance and speed that you will do on the competition ride. Then back to the house for an early lunch, and straight after that we load up and head to the ride base.
2-nights Camping, 2 Competition Rides
Once we arrive we set up our camp, which is tents and stretcher beds for the next 2-nights. After setting up you go out out on a trail ride to familiarise yourself with the track and the marking arrows. Then it is time socialise!
You have an early start to have horses checked and follow the program. After completing the competition ride, you are welcome to just rest or to become involved as a helper at the event, followed by another well-earned night of socialising and tenting.
Give it a try!
The next day you compete in your second competition. After the prize presentation we head back to Fordsdale. From there you have a choice of saying goodbye (if you have traveled in your own vehicle) or you can come back to Fordsdale and stay another night (you can even sleep in) before heading off after breakfast on Monday morning.
